Broader Band PDF Print E-mail

The rolllout of broadband in Ireland has been lamentably slow with the state telecoms provider, Eircom, dragging it's heels for so many years. I'm amazed that there's still parts of Clonakilty town that can't get ADSL because the telephone infrastructure is so poor.

Recently Eircom have been advertising "3Mb broadband for the price of 2Mb". This is mainly down to the fact that they've upgraded the exchanges that are broadband enabled so that equipment that previously supported 2Mb now supports 3Mb. Those of you that were on 2Mb earlier in the year have probably been upgraded to 3Mb without you even noticing.

So what's available for those of you who are unable to take advantage of ADSL? Well there's two independant wireless broadband suppliers in the West Cork area. Servicing the east of the area (Clonakilty, Bandon, Dunmanway) there's Rapid Broadband and further out to the west (Skibbereen, Schull, Bantry) there's Digital Forge. AHC Networks also provide services to the east of Cork City as far west as Dunmanway, see their coverage map for details. Each of the companies are well placed to provide quality wireless broadband and telephone services.

Cork Technology Services are ideally placed to advise you on choosing a broad band supplier and also on securing your computers from hackers, viruses and other malware. Call today on 023 88 39496.
