Microsoft continue to push Internet Explorer 8 and it's now being rolled out by windows automatic update. However I'm still advising people to wait for at least a mont (preferably two) for bugs to be ironed out.
I've read several reports in the tech press of people installing it only to find that their computer slows down considerably or they find other programs they use are broken. These problems have been fixed by uninstalling IE8 however I have heard of one istance where IE8 was installed by windows update after which the computer gave multiple errors on start-up followed by a blue screen of death. An attempt to uninstall IE8 failed because of "missing files", the machine can no longer access the internet becuase of a broken network stack, a system restore failed to rollout IE8 and a repair install didn't correct the issues with network access. The issue has yet to be resolved!
The moral of this story; upgrading to IE8 may damage your PC. If you're going to install it make sure you've a good backup first.
